I met him by chance but, it by his choosing the he hired me on his birthday in 1992 and gave me an opportunity to serve as an apprentice and License Funeral Director. Condolence: Prayers of comfort to Linda, Vicki and the entire Family during this most difficult time. Melvin D. Thompson was a giant of a man and an example to myself and many in the community. He afforded me the privilege of my first job in the funeral business back in 1983. He taught me professionalism not only in word, but in deed, and set a stellar example for me to aspire to. Unfortunately I am not able to travel from Tampa Florida to Brooklyn to pay my respects in person, but know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers this day. +

Condolence: It's really sad to let Mr. Thompson go and even though in the last couple of years we didn't enjoy to see him often, we are going to remember always how special he was to our family. Our family is always going to appreciate how caring he used to talk to us and always asked us how we were and how the kid were and to always take care of the family. Especially to Richie when he was always asking how he were and how he was doing. We always gonna carry Mr. Thompson in our hearts.
